    Buffie’s Hottie of the Month

Javierbardem5 So it is the end of the week, late at night, and I am doing what I always do . . . I’m lying in bed in my pajamas with my nose in a book while the television in on. Yep, that’s my normal nightly routine. All is going according to plan when, while I am reading my book, my ears pick up on exotic music playing in the background. It’s the kind of music that makes my toes start to tingle and my heart begins to race just a tad. In my mind that music signals a hottie is in the vicinity. I decide I need to put down my book and just see what is on the television. As I watch the trailer for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, I find myself entranced by the movie and this hot Spanish lover that keeps flashing on my television screen. Tall, dark, rugged, and there are muscles at every single angle. Yep, that Spanish hunk is none other than Javier Bardem. Here’s the trailer

Javier Bardem is a 39 year old Spanish actor. He was born in the CanaryJavierbardem7 Islands. In 2007 he was chosen as one of the 100 Sexiest Film Stars by Empire Magazine. Also in 2007, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in No Country for Old Men, and he dedicated his Oscar to his mother. Javier beat out Johnny Depp for the role of Florentino Arizo in Love in the Time of Cholera. I love this quote by Javier regarding his girlfriend who is a translator and has been teaching him English “I’m in love with my English teacher. We have many lessons in bed.” I bet those are some very interesting lessons!!

Javier Bardem is not the typical hottie material. Still photos just don’t do justice. But there is just something about the man that moves me. Does he move you?

Hey Buffie – Javier, well he is one of those rare actors who can do just about anything. I have to say his role in No Country for Old Men was not what I’d call hottie material; but that’s what makes him so versatile. He’s not worried about his ‘leading’ man status so much as the work itself and that’s what makes him a hottie for me. There is nothing sexier than watching a man do his job and do it well, that gets me every time. Now a question for you? Do accents make them all the hotter?

Nice choice, Buffie! I remember saying to someone after last year’s Oscars, “Javier Bardem is sex on a stick.” It’s the accent, and the dynamism. He’s like a magnet, he just draws you in. I think he’s delicious.

Do accents make them all the hotter? Hmmmm . . . is the sky blue?!!??!!??!! Of course, darling!!!! There is just something about a guy with an exotic accent. In my opinion, it just adds to his sex appeal.

Thanks MK! I wasn’t too sure if many ladies would agree with me, but the man does something for me 😉

buffie-you sure know how to pick them. Absolutely an accent adds to the flavor. I love the English and Scottish ones.

I don’t think he’s particularly handsome and the first time I saw him I couldn’t figure out why women found him so sexy. But since then, each time I’ve seen him on the screen, each time I’ve watched an interview I’ve found him more and more appealing. MK hit it on the head. He has this magnetism that just keeps drawing you closer and closer the more you’re exposed to him. It’s not something that can be learned. Some men are born with it and this one has it in spades.

The first time I ever saw him was in the preview for “No Country for Old Men”, so no, I didn’t see the appeal. After he won the Oscar, well, I immediately changed my mind. He’s just so rugged and masculine and I can’t help but think naughty thoughts. And the accent, OMG, all the better. I love that he’s not a pretty boy. There are women out there who would sell their souls to sleep with Justin Timberlake – ick. Give me Javier any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

I am so glad that I’m not the only one who gets moved by Javier.

Stacey, you said it right — I love that he’s NOT a pretty boy. And yes those naughty thoughts compound hourly when I listen to his accent.

Andrea – if you’re going to watch No Country for Old Men – be prepared for a film that is dark/depressing. I mean it — it’s tough to watch. The book was phenomenal – but again — it’s tough to read.

It’s on the Starz network right now, and I keep thinking perhaps I’ll watch it, but I generally like happy in my movies.

So, ladies, what’s everyone reading this weekend??

MK, I’m with you. Give me a happy movie, I went through my period of dark, depressing angst ridden movies, and now I just want happy. My mother just went to see Vicky Christina Barcelona and loved it… so I’m going to have to see it now.

I’m going to be reading Into the Fire by Suzanne Brockmann, my copy just came in! So Maria, get the backyard ready, turn off your new i phone and join me on the matching lounge chair under the umbrella.

Y’all are making me feel SO guilty! I owe Marisa about three reviews (at least). I’m gonna have to do some writing this weekend!

I’m still reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood Compendium. It’s just marvelous. I’m going to have a TON to say about it in my review. A TON!

The Novella about Z and Bella was wonderful, and J.R.’s behind the scenes of writing each book was extremely intriguing; glad you’re enjoying MK.

Goodness, I’m late getting here. But I have to say I saw this movie the weekend it started and though I liked it, it was a bit disappointing. It didn’t come close to fulfilling the promise made in the commercials. I thought I would see much more of sweet Javier sans garments, but alas, no. LOL! He was very good in this movie and him and Penelope Cruz (sp?) are wonderful together. They were the scene stealers of the movie for me.
