Behind the Scenes with Pop Culture

We’ve had the opportunity to speak with many romance authors over the past several weeks.  Did I mention I LOVE my job

During an interview there are a few questions I like to ask that refer to Pop Culture. Questions like -what’s your favorite TV Show, favorite music, movie, male star, etc.  The kinds of things a writer likes to enjoy when they are  not writing terrific stories or under a terrific deadline.  I got some pretty interesting answers.

Nora Roberts, Marjorie M. Lui, Trish Milburn and Kathryn Smith seem to be big  Josh Weadon  and Buffy fans.

Roxanne St. Claire is waiting for the new season of LOST to start – Roxanne they’re gonna make us wait until February to find out how they got off the island. In fact, during our interview we talked about how upset she was when they killed Charlie.  However, our Production Associate Kate, hadn’t seen that episode yet, it was still waiting on her TIVO – oh well, now she knows.

Teresa Medeiros has definitely got a thing for Jack Bauer and he’ll be back again – all 24 hours of him.

Sandy Blair thinks Sean Connery is it. Although I mentioned to Sandy, I too thought he was it, until Hollywood paired him years ago with Cathrine Zeta Jones… really, come on waaaaay too much of an age difference.  Sort of like when Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer made a movie together – puleasseee….

But the ‘male movie star’ that won hands down was Gerard Butler (see small homage here)

So – what Pop Culture thing floats your boat?

The landscape of POP Culture is littered with dead bodies… Every month it seems there is something new. I’m a huge fan of TV and I’m all over what’s hot at the moment – but my favorites are Lost – that show has taken me on a ride I won’t soon forget and can’t wait for more.

Thanks to my shameless addiction to People, InStyle and Vanity Fair, I’m somewhat clued in to poppish stuff…but I don’t watch TV anymore. Really. It’s like I’m ADD in my old age or something. Can’t sit still for any of it. I did get sucked in to Project Runway last year (go, Santino)but that’s about it.

Maggie – since you read People, In Style and Vanity Fair – you are now my official “go to girl” when I want the latest information.

Yes, Joss is a god. Seriously, he’s a genius. Buffy was one of the best shows on TV. If you don’t believe me, ask Suzanne Brockmann who just paid a bundle in an auction for charity to eat dinner with Joss. How cool is that??

Pop culture wise, what gets me going? TV. I watch a ridiculous amount of TV. LOST, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Grey’s Anatomy, well, you get the idea.

But I also love entertainment gossip. I read People religiously, and cruise every day. I also love E! Online.

What can I say? I’m about as deep as a puddle.

MaryKate, we were seperated at birth. I too love all those shows, and watch way too much television.

I heard about Suzanne’s dinner with JW – and when she emailed me about it- having met Suzanne – I realized that I was now 1 degree away from JW myself. It really is a pop culture world and we are all seperated by 6 degrees.
