It’s finally spring – time to open the windows and let the fresh air in.  The days are longer, the sun shines brighter, and everywhere I go I can smell fresh cut grass – yes the long winter is over.  It’s a time of re-birth and new beginnings. A time for resolutions. I know, most people make their resolutions in January with the start of a new year; not me.  It’s dark and cold and dreary in January – conducive to hibernating, but not new beginnings.  I always wait until spring time to make a fresh start and proclaim my resolutions.  I feel inspired by the tiny buds in the trees and the flocks of birds flying back home.  This year I’m feeling particularly inspired and so I resolve to:

  1. Clean my oven.
  2. Stop putting "wake up" on my To Do List just so I can have something to cross off.
  3. File my papers in my filing cabinet and not on top of my filing cabinet.
  4. Be kind to people who drive me crazy.
  5. Learn a new language.

What are your spring time resolutions?

Marisa — I think we own the same filing cabinet!! I have stack on top of mine and a small stack on the floor too. For some reason those papers just won’t jump into the file folders!

As for resolutions for the warmer weather — I want to spend more time playing outside with my boys. I think they need to see their Mom as a fun big kid, not just Mom. Also I would like to exercise more

I have three resolutions for the summer: Vacation in Hawaii in May, Read bags of books, and Attend RWA in July.

Marisa, whether you approach your to-do list in a top-down or a bottom-up approach, the filing cabinet comes in third. However, learning a new language will be a lot more fun than cleaning the oven. So, which language are you planning on learning next? For me, it’s either German or Finnish–German would be more practical, Finnish cooler.

Keira – why Finnish? I’d like to learn Italian. I think anyone who is biligual is amazing. I can barely commmunicate in the one I know.

Marisa: I think Finnish is cool because it’s so different from the rest of the Scandinavian and Western European languages (Germanic or Latin), and it has ancient roots into the Indo-European defunct branch of the Ugric languages.

Italian will be fun! Sunshine, lazy summer days, cool clothes. Aha, there’s the ticket. Snazzy fashionable clothes.
