Q&A with KIMBERLY
KILLION

Q: What song do you put on when you’re driving in your car?

A: Currently, I’m totally addicted to the Musical Blades CD, Full Frontal
Piracy. That’s right “Pirate Music”. Imagine getting songs
stuck in your head like: Tiggo Bitty, Castrating Katy, Captain Curse. My 14
year old daughter will soon die of mortification.

Q: What is your favorite Classic TV Show?

A: The Brady Bunch. Peter. Need I say more.

Q: What is your favorite current TV Show?

A: The Mentalist. Patrick Jane is so HOT and oddly funny in a bizarre sort
of way.

Q: Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes?

A: The plaid pumps that I will be wearing to the Gala in DC. I found them on
clearance and snatched them up because they perfectly match the Royal Stewart
plaid accenting my gown.

Q: What is…

emma_hollyAnyone who’s read my books can tell you I’m fan of big pleasures *g*, but sometimes it’s the little ones that get us through the day to day.

You can wake up in the morning to golden spring sunshine beaming through the window, remember the nice dream you had, step into the shower and find there’s plenty of hot water. Your bagel (or Poptart) might be toasted just right, and the coffee you decided to try the other day could turn out to be the best ever.

Maybe you find the perfect parking space, or reach the bus stop just as the bus is arriving. Someone might compliment you out of the blue on exactly the thing you were concerned about. (Wow, Sally, that’s a FABulous shade of blonde on you!) The…

alyssa_day_romane_authorOverheard at our house last week, just before my new release of ATLANTIS UNLEASHED:

Navy Guy: Whatcha doing?
Me: I’m Googling myself.
NG: You’ll go blind.
Me:
NG: Can I watch?

I have to admit I  used to be on the slow end of the curve on the information superhighway. I was the person in the far right lane, clinging white-knuckled to her steering wheel, while all the speedy showoffs race by me churning exhaust fumes of syndicated blogsite feeds, uploading, downloading, sideloading, and anthropomorphic narfawonkers.

Or, you know, actual computer terms.

nihttp://www.romancenovel.tv/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/nina-2-150x150.jpgna-2I suppose every author eventually hears this question. I’d love to say that my plots appear to me in a blinding flash of light. Unfortunately, they don’t. So where do they come from? The simple answer is: they come from everywhere, from various bits of information I’ve collected and stored away until the moment I need them for a new story.

When my editor suggested that I come up with a series to alternate with the humorous paranormals I’d been writing for the last few years, I rooted through my mental pile of topics that interested me and pulled one out. I often enjoy listening to Coast to Coast AM, a late night talk show that explores a variety of subjects including the paranormal. I’d heard several discussions about the coming end of…

karen_kayGood Morning From new Native American Romance Author, Gen Bailey!  Otherwise known as Karen Kay.  To start off the blog let me tell you first why there is the name change from Karen Kay (I’ve written 15 books under the name of Karen Kay).

My last eight books — and particularly my last 4 — have been very paranormal. This book from Berkley/Putnam is not. It is a straight historical Indian romance. The pacing in the book is faster than what I usually write, plus I’m writing about a completely different time period than I usually write.

Now, this book was so different that my editor thought it should have a different name. Thus, Gen Bailey, the author came into being. The name comes from my family. Bailey is in reality my last name. Gen…

hoyt_headshotA week ago today something strange happened to me. My latest book, TO BEGUILE A BEAST, made the New York Times Bestseller list. Why is that strange? Because making a bestseller list—especially the NYT—is a benchmark in a writer’s career. It’s supposed to be an Important Event. And of course it is. Last week I got flowers, I got phone calls that involved shrieks (some of them mine) I got congratulatory emails from lots of other very gracious authors. But at the same time, in my everyday world?

Making a list didn’t change anything at all.

I still have to do laundry. My offspring still don’t believe I’m anything special (besides their mother.) Heck, I still have to make my next book deadline.

Even in the publishing world making the list is kind…
