Dear Reader:

Short Review: Bed of Roses, is the second book in Nora Roberts Bride Quartet series. However, those of you who have not read the first book, Vision in White, can read the second book with out missing a step. It’s a solid book with well developed characters and if you always buy every book that Nora Roberts writes I’m not writing this review for you. If however, you’re a romance reader, or just a reader looking for a book to read, perhaps this review is for you. I liked this book. Am I glad I read it? Yes. Would I re-read it? I don’t think so. And just so you know, re-reading a book…

Dear Reader:

Short Review: Overall, Indiscreet was a book I enjoyed; however, I found the plot a bit too simplistic. The writing is extremely well done and the characters are worth the read. If you’re new to Carolyn Jewel’s books and love historical romance, I think you’ve found yourself a new author. For those of you who loved Ms. Jewel’s first book Scandal, I’d be curious to know what you think about this one.

Long Review: A hero who is unattractive?  Huh, who’d a thunk it, but in Carolyn Jewel’s latest release Indiscreet, that’s just what we have. Now I must admit that I had a hard time picturing him at first.  I mean so many of the romances I read paint the hero as tall dark…

Dear Reader:

Short Review: Two words: Lisa. Kelypas. Need I say more?  I don’t think so. But if you insist, read the Long Review.

Long Review: I find it particularly hard to write reviews of books by my favorite authors. It’s all so tedious when all I can think of is superlatives. But since I’ve read the book, and perhaps you haven’t I’ll go on.  For those of you who are Lisa Kleypas fans, you’ve most likely already read this book, or your about to buy the book. So this review is directed to readers who have not yet read a Lisa Kleypas book, which can only mean you don’t read romance or, dare I say…

Covet_JRWARDCovet by J.R. Ward
Book #1 in the Fallen Angels Series

5 Stars

Dear Reader,

Short Review: I loved this book, buy it. You need more info? Alright. For those of you who are J.R. Ward fans, hold on to your hat, there’s so much more to love. For those of you have questioned where Ms. Ward is going, not as an author, but specifically as a romance author, please read on, I think all your questions will be answered. For those of you who don’t give a rat’s ass about labels and just enjoy an exceptionally well written book, that literally transports you to an alternate reality and keeps you there for hours on end, this one’s for you.

Long Review: There’s a new paranormal series in town and it’s called Fallen Angles. Yes, J.R. Ward has written a powerful and exciting new series with a new cast of characters, a new mythology, and a new reason to keep reading her books. Although the series takes place in Caldwell New York (the same location as her bestselling series The Black Dagger Brotherhood) and even though there are some cross over characters, this series has a brand new mythology. With that I mean, vampires, Lessers, and the Brotherhood may live in Caldwell NY, but they live on the other side of town. It’s a fresh start with perhaps some familiar places and faces BUT with a brand new perspective and a brand new raison d’être. With her trademark ability to create vivid images, snappy dialogue, compelling story lines, inventive and INTERESTING characters, Ms. Ward has given readers a reason to rush out and buy Covet.

For all intents and purposes the summer is over and now we can begin to organize our lives. Some of us are starting school, or our children are going back to school. Some of us may be starting new jobs, or looking for new jobs. Many of us are bringing out our warm sweaters as well as sleeping with extra blankets. A new season means new adventures as well as the commencement of seasonal rituals. One autumn ritual I always observe is checking out what’s new on TV.  As per usual, I’ll be watching ALL the new shows being produced this year. I’m always curious to see what the networks and producers come up with and what they think we’ll like.  To that end I always give each show a…

blood_robertsBlood Brothers by Nora Roberts
1st book in The Sign of Seven Trilogy
Publisher Penguin

September’s Mystery Book is: Blood Brothers. This is the first book in Nora Roberts’ Sign of Seven Trilogy. I loved this series. All three books, Blood Brothers, The Hollow and The Pagan Stone have what you come to expect and love in a Nora Roberts paranormal trilogy; suspense, action, mystery, deep abiding friendship, a well defined story arc with a solid mythology and romance. A great book and a great series, one I highly recommend.

“In the small village of Hawkins Hollow, three best friends who share the same birthday sneak off into the woods for a sleepover the evening before turning 10. But a night of pre-pubescent celebration turns into a night of horror as their blood brother oath unleashes…
