The Back Cover and a Book Give Away
  • Author: Marisa
  • Published: Sep 4th, 2009

I usually never read the back cover copy of a book .  I really like to open the first page and be surprised.  This weekend I have several books to choose from and with a limited amount of time and several choices, I went ahead and read the back cover copy:

shootShoot to Thrill by Nina Bruhns a romantic suspense. The back cover copy says: “A sexy black ops hero and a beautiful ER nurse must fight for their lives – and for a love they never thought possible…”

Dark Legacy by Anna DeStefano another romantic suspense with a bit of the paranormal dark(psychic twins – I wish Maria and I were psychic, would cut down on the texting and email for sure). The back cover copy says: “Madie Temple can’t go through this again. Her twin has been in a coma for the last ten years. Their psychic link was severed. At least that’s what she thought.  But there’s a lot Maddie doesn’t know – about the 200-year old curse on her family, about the shadowy group that wants to exploit the Temple twins’ powers for themselves, about the sexy psychiatrist offering to help her. The only way to find the answers and avoid being pulled herointo the abyss of madness is to trust her heart and confront her Dark Legacy.”

Holding out for a Hero by HelenKay Dimon a contemporary. The back cover copy says: “ Deanna Armstrong needs a hero – not for herself, but for the nephew all her money and time can’t  seem to get out of jail.  Unfortunately, the best hero in all the Hawaiian Islands is set on turning in his badge and getting his excellent butt into another line of work. If that wasn’t enough, Josh Windsor also has a big-time grudge against Deana herself. But if there’s anything being rich, smart and stubborn has taught Deana, it’s never settle for second best…

I’m not sure which one I’ll read – I’ll let you know next week. But I do have several books to give away (to people living in the U.S.) – and all you have to do is write a back cover copy of your weekend.  I’ll pick two random posters.  Meanwhile enjoy your weekend and happy reading!

My weekend is not going to be back cover copy worthy, but I can’t wait to see all of the entries.

Lying on the beach Sara wondered if her last phone call would have the results she craved. Her plans were set in motion and nothing would stop her. She only needed Steve to agree.

Lani has had a hectic week but she’s looking forward to packing the kids in the car and heading down to the lake. If only she could remember where she left her bathing suit, or if she still fits into her bathing suit. It doesn’t matter. The excitement of 3 whole days with no car pooling, or running late for work and trying to figure out what’s for dinner is making her dizzy with excitement. To heck with the bathing suit she just might wait until the kids are in bed and then take a late night swim with her husband… sans bathing suit.

Here’s my back cover: Witchy was a multi tasking mother of 2, who thought she’d finally get that quiet alone time she desperately needed. A few days with quiet reads, Enigma music, and bubble baths. But when her kids arrange 3 play days in one day, her hopes are dashed. That is, until her sexy tattoed, dark haired husband suggests the play days may work in their favor. Witchy realizes; she might not read, but she’ll get that bubble bath extra HOT!
    What Readers Say:
“This is a smokin’ hot read, that’ll have you running to buy bubble bath and melting bars.”

Back Cover Copy for The Last Weekend of the Summer

Joanie and Bill were hoping to catch a few days of sun and sand but when Bill’s mother unexpectedly called to say she would be ‘dropping in’ for a surprise visit all bets were off. Could Joanie and Bill convince Deidre to come the following weekend?

A spine tingling, nerve racking, suspense that will have you turning the pages to find out if these two harried lovers will find a way to be alone and not hurt Deidre’s feelings.

Ha – Susan may I borrow your weekend minus the kids? lol :D

    Back cover:

The weekend of Keira G. would be spent lonely and working. She knew not to procrastinate but sometimes midweek breaks are completely worth it. She never expected to find romance that weekend. It was the furthest thing from her mind until she bumped into a gorgeous stranger at the post office who would turn her bland existence upside down. But the stranger held a dark and dangerous secret. He could not drag Keira into his world without upsetting the balance of nature, but he wanted to and could not resist despite his best intentions.

    (if only!)

Donna can’t wait for her shift at the phone company to be over on Saturday so she can enjoy some new book shopping and enjoying the delights of her friends at the annual barbeque at Dani’s house. After that its heling her ailing husband of 29 years from surgery and maybe starting some sexual interludes with him to see if he is better…they both need some hot heavy sex and soon…the sweaty kind…lol

OMG, I just took a break and sat down with coke in hand to read some ‘back cover copy’ – big mistake! Need to mop up the computer screen before I continue. These are great. It makes me wonder how people get jobs doing the back cover copy and blurbs for books.

Gee, this is SO lame, but here goes:

Family is everything. Well, family and …football. Cheryl’s family comes from far and wide to watch and bond over the start of the college football season. Will their beloved team have traveled to another state only to come away with defeat? Will Cheryl scream with elation or cry in distress? Will her husband curse in front of her father? Will the dip be spilled on the Oriental rug? Will the game’s outcome determine whether hubby “scores” with Cheryl?

A nerve-racking suspense that will have you hurrying to the final page! WHO will win…and WHO will lose? ;-)

You definitely have a tough decision about which book to read, Marisa. I’d want to read them all…at once. Though, if I really had to choose, I think I’d go with Dark Legacy after reading the snippets posted by Anna.

These are some great back cover copies so far. I want Keira’s – minus the working part. Anyway, here’s mine:

Karin had planned on having a nice, relaxing weekend to close out her hectic summer. Too bad none of her family got the memo. With a grandmother recovering from ankle surgery, parents needing her help taking care of her grandfather while her grandmother recovers, nieces and nephews popping in unexpectedly, and dogsitting her brother’s dogs while he’s out of town, relaxation is the last thing she’ll get. The appearance of an attractive stranger seems to be the one bright spot in her weekend – until she learns the truth about why he turned up at her door.

Maria was desperate for a break. In fact she was close to a homicidal rampage. The coke, potato chips and twizzlers had been eaten days ago. With a mountain of work lying before her, no snacks in the fridge, and no break in sight, she did what any woman on the brink would do. She didn’t expect to be caught, but with blood spilling down the sides of her car door, the police chief had only one choice.

Will Maria break free? Will the police chief do the right thing? Will justice be served?

These are great! I wish my life had more action verbs! I could do with fewer question marks though :)

Paranormal romance author Jessa Slade always meant to get her revisions done early. But once again, real life had sucked the words from her with demonic glee. Late at night, she sits at her computer, the click of the keyboard marking every panicked heartbeat. Which will she reach first, her end or The End?

I’m not good at this stuff, but I’ll give it a try.

Summer has been a washout for Cy, but the sun will be out this weekend and she will make it memorable. Fun on the beach with the hunky lifeguard and some refreshments.

I am going to go for a motorcycle ride with my BF this weekend.
It all of a sudden got colder, reminding us that, sob sob, summer is coming to end.
We want to be outdoors as much as we can while it is still warm out!
