I enjoy historical western romance and, for my money, Linda Lael Miller’s books are some of the best on the market.  Her latest release, The Bridegroom, is the fourth book in her Stone Creek series and tells the story of Lydia Fairmont and Gideon Yarbro.  Lydia and Gideon were first introduced to readers two years ago in A Wanted Man and although they were only eight and sixteen, respectively it was apparent that a strong bond had formed between the two.  Fate separated them when Lydia’s wealthy aunt arrived to take her orphaned niece to Phoenix to live but Gideon couldn’t turn his back on the frightened little girl even though he knew chances were good he would never see her again.  He gave her…

Dear Reader,

Short Review: Hot Pursuit t is the latest book in the Troubleshooter series. For me that was enough to go out and buy the book. What? That’s not enough for you? OK then, read the long review.

Long Review: I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m a huge fan of Suzanne Brockmann’s romantic suspense books, particularly her  Troubleshooter Series. I will also say that while I eagerly await each new book in the series (I purchase the hard covers), I read each book with extremely high expectations and however unfair that might be, I expect these books to be great. There, I said it out loud, that’s what I want.  So, after picking up Hot Pursuit, I sat down and read…

Julie James Photo

Julie James is the author of Just the Sexiest Man Alive and Practice Makes Perfect. Her third book, Something About You, comes out in March 2010.

The other day, someone posed an interesting question to me:  which five fictional characters would I invite to a dinner party, and why?  This question intrigued me so much, I thought it merited further consideration.

I enjoy throwing dinner parties.  Sure, it’s a lot of work, and sometimes going to a restaurant is more convenient, but I like the cozy, relaxed feel of entertaining in my own home.  (And I get to pick the wine.)  When planning such an event, I give some thought to the guest list—who will mix well together (and more important, who won’t), and what interesting things they bring to the table, so…

milburngh2005picYA News

I’ve been looking for a site that would list when upcoming movies based on YA novels are set to be released, but all I’ve been able to locate are a couple of sites that cover all upcoming movies based on books. But you can dig around the following two sites to find not only movies based on some favorite YA novels but perhaps other books you’ve read as well.

Bookreporter.com and  Chasingthefrog.com

post_grad_poster-337x499While not based on a book, YA readers may enjoy Alexis Bledel’s new movie, Post Grad, which hits theaters this Friday (Aug. 21). Bledel stars as a recent college graduate who has to move back home with her eccentric family while she searches for her first post-college job, not to mention the right guy. Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen on Friday…

Judith James photoI’m often asked about research; People ask how much I do, where I find my information, if it’s hard, and if I ever find it boring. The truth is it can be a grind at times, particularly when writing about a period that’s new to me. Every genre and every book requires research. As an historical writer I may have to stop and look up minutia such as children’s games, furniture, meals, vernacular and slang, as well as the larger historical events of the day. There are times I might spend an entire afternoon researching a geographical area I end up describing in one paragraph or even one line!

I don’t think I could ever write a science fiction. While I enjoy reading it and love watching documentaries on Discovery Channel; physics,…

Jo-Davis-pub-JPEG-single-crHello, everyone! A big wave to you all and a bigger thank you to the fabulous ladies at RNTV for having me back today. I know what you’re thinking: Uh-oh. If Jo’s here the topic is probably just south of naughty. By now, there’s little doubt in your mind that vanilla has never been my flavor of choice—I’m more of a caramel turtle fudge kind of gal. I love mixing it up for that perfect explosion on the taste buds.

You know me so well, it’s scary.

Okay, so let’s start with a bit of role play. Not that kind, my kinky friends, at least not yet! Imagine this: You’re a confident, successful person who feels good about yourself—for the most part. Your success, however, has come at a price, and the victim of…
