Wonderful post, Stacey, and I’m totally with you. As a reader and now a writer nothing annoys me more than supposedly “perfect” characters. In the romance genre especially, readers crave heroines that amidst their stellar traits, have fallible flaws. We want our heoines to be strong, of course, but just as in “real life,” strength isn’t something we’re given, as in brown or blue eyes. It’s something we have to journey toward, strive for, and yes, sometimes suffer a bit. A lot.

Even uber alpha warrior, Achilles had that problem area of his heel…

I love the character of Percy Parker for both her vulnerability and yes, her strength and I think that “realness” is resonating with romance readers as well. Certainly it’s a large part of what makes THE STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL TALE OF MISS PERCY PARKER a stangely beautiful read as well.
