I prefer paperbacks if I am buying them unless its an author I have to have NOW or can get it from our library but I am open to books on cd also too bad I was too late for the contest…

As gorgeous as hardcovers can be, I still generally prefer paperbacks. As people have mentioned, I like the portability and the relative affordability. And I have a zillion books, so I can keep more paperbacks in the same space that would fit fewer hardcovers.

I definitely prefer paperbacks–easier on my budget and easier to carry around. But I definitely will purchase hardbacks of my favorite authors.

I prefer paperbacks to hardcover, not just as a price issue, but because of the size. I find paperbacks easy to stuff in my purse, car and even to read while on the treadmill. *G* Authors I enjoy that are published in Hardcover are Jayne Ann Krentz, J.D. Robb, Nora Roberts , Kay Hooper and now Jen Lancaster’s new book (a memoir) was released in Hardcover. The next author I see moving to hardcover may be Rachel Gibson or Michele Sagara.

Without reading previous comments: paperbacks, for two main reasons: cost and size.

I can cram a good many more paperbacks in the same space only a few hardbacks fit–and while I’m not terribly obsessive about the condition of my books (I buy plenty of used ones, after all), I take reasonably good care of my paperbacks so the “sturdiness” of the hardback is not an issue.

I definitely prefer paperbacks. They cost less, take up less room and I can always carry one in my purse just in case I have to sit around waiting somewhere. I really hate it when I’m stuck without a book.
