I’m sitting here shaking my head and trying to figure out how this talented author of seven books and 2007 RITA award winner could have escaped the notice of this self-admitted romantic suspense junkie. Whatever the reason, after reading Solomon’s upcoming release you can bet I won’t be missing any future books! ONE DEADLY SIN is a story filled with deadly secrets, snappy dialogue, steamy sex, heart-stopping suspense and enough twists and turns to keep me glued to the edge of my seat and devouring every word of this terrific thriller.
She came at night, creeping into town like a shade. Darkness suited her. It evoked the past, that black hole of fury and mystery. Recapturing it required dark arts…
Hello, Daddy. She traced the rest of the inscription, not needing to see it because it was incised in her memory. “Beloved husband and father.” And the quotation: “They make haste to shed innocent blood.”
Innocent blood. She rose to face the angel. They needed a black angel, her father and mother. They were weak. Unprepared for the pressure life steamrolled over them. People who retreated and hid. Ran away. Died.
But they had her now. She snapped off the light, leaving the darkness to coil around her like a shroud. Edie was back. And she’d make everything right.
Twenty years ago, Eden Swanford’s family left Redbud, Tennessee under a cloud of disgrace following her father’s suicide after being accused of embezzlement and her mother’s subsequent breakdown. Now, alone in the world but armed with a new identity, a list of names, a bag of black angels and bent on revenge, Edie Swann roars back into town on her Harley determined at long last to uncover the truth surrounding her father’s death. Her first night in town she delivers a black angel to one of the names on the list and the next morning the well-known man is found dead in his living room, clutching the angel in his hand.
Police chief, Holt Drennen left the excitement of the big city behind and returned to Redbud to raise his young daughter following his wife’s death. He lives a quiet life in the small town where he’s following in his father’s footsteps as chief but that all changes the day Edie hits town. Suddenly, his sex drive is roaring back to life like a Fourth of July rocket and all he wants to do is find excuses to spend time with her. He’s looking forward to a mutually enjoyable liaison and some really hot sex but Edie is much more than the smart-talking rebel she appears to be on the surface and soon Holt finds himself caring for her more than he thought he would. His daughter is lobbying for Edie to be her new mother and Holt begins to believe he may have found the woman he could spend the rest of his life with.
Edie’s plan to force the truth from the men she believes were involved with her father’s death is derailed when each man she anonymously delivers a black angel to turns up dead. At first she chalks it up to coincidence but it quickly becomes apparent that someone else has entered the game and changed the rules. The people on her list are still dying but now someone is intent on killing Edie as well or, at the very least, framing her for murder. She knows she’s innocent but she’s already been tried in the court of public opinion and the people of Redbud have turned against her, just like they turned against her father twenty years ago. She can only pray that Holt will believe in her innocence but if he discovers the name of the person she suspects is trying to kill her he’s sure to turn away from her too. Will anyone believe her before it is too late or will the real killer have the last laugh?
ONE DEADLY SIN will take you on a fast, emotional and thrilling ride you won’t soon forget. I highly recommend it!
