Good News Saturday by Marisa O’Neill

good-news.jpgI can turn on the nightly news, watch CNN, read the Times, listen to NPR or just surf the net for bad news.   So it’s definitely time for Good News Saturday.

Tell us something good – what happened this week that made you smile, made you laugh or just made your day.  For me – it was the smell of fresh cut grass for the first time this season.  I stopped in the middle of the road and took it it. Corny? Maybe. Did it make me feel good? Yes.  Did it made me smile? You bet. For a good long while. That’s what I’m talking about.  What about you?

    I love this idea!

I will answer next time with a less egotastic reply, but here’s this week’s:

I had my annual review at job #2, a hospital, this week. They ask 17 co-workers to answer a detailed set of questions about me, and I meet with my boss to go over them. I find it a much more stressful method of review than I am used to at the university (job #1). I admire these people so much and am so humbled every day by what they do. I got a very positive review, and, coming from them, it means to world to me. I’ve been walking on air for days!

I love good news! Too much bad news out there, so let’s focus on the positive. I had my annual mammogram and got the all clear. And I had a nice birthday, too. Being 43 is pretty damn good so far. 🙂

As always, my dogs running around and playing together make me laugh. What can I say, I’m easily amused!

The zombie that lives in my house (who by the way is going off to college in the fall) got a new puppy this week. The puppy’s name is Reno (we have an R thing going on with the pets–Riley, Ripley, Roscoe). It makes me grin just to look at her. She is half chihuahua and half dachshund–a Cha-weiner! Makes me laugh every time I say it.

I went shopping this morning with my girls(6&8)and we finally, after trying on what seemed like a thousand dresses, agreed. They look sooo cute. The family is happy, well fed and now well clothed. What more could a gal ask for.

My brother and sil left this morning to return home to Florida after staying with me since Monday. We had a wonderful visit. I hadn’t seen them in a year and am so pleased they decided to spend their vacation with me! 🙂

Hmmm…to be honest, I’ve had a awlful week. However, when I went in to see the optometrist on Saturday and was told the glasses’ frame I’ve already replaced once has flaws and that I need to chose a whole new frame (which for someone who finds it difficult to make a decision is a nightmare!), I was informed the manufacturer would be paying for the new frame! So YAH! And hopefully I can continue to concentrate at work this week as I did Thursday/Friday and my boss will be a little happier…

oh, all these stories just make me smile! Thanks for doing this Maria & Marisa. We all need to remember the little things in life that bring us joy.

My good news is my son got his Arrow of Light from the Cub Scouts. This means he graduates from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. My little one is growing so fast!!
