Im so in love with Zsadist and Bella that i could read a whole series about them. it could seriously be just about them doing everyday normal (well noremal for warrior vampires) things and id still be absolutely entranced. Its so endearing! I loved how Bella had to be the one to help him to save Z from himself. and when i got to the end, i just had to read the last pages over and over and over because i was just so overwhelmed with emotion! I hope theres like a spin off series about them!

Samantha I am fairly new to this too! Welcome. I started reading the BDB because of the video interviews with JR. I am on book five right now, and so far, it’s all about Z. He is the most complicated Hero I have ever read. As a matter of fact, I keep going back to the book and pick through to my favorite scenes.

Hey! – I have never written anything on this site before, so bare with me – I absolutely love JRWard’s series and Lover Awakened is my favorite, hands down. The thing about Zsadist, and other virgin heroes, is the insecurity that they don’t show to anyone (unless they eventually show it to the heroine) so the reader doesn’t see it unless the story is told from the hero’s pov. Zsadist comes across as being so nasty (especially in Dark Lover) but you never guess at what is really going through his head.
I think the insecurity that is sometimes seen in vrigin heroes is sexy as hell – it makes them seem more like real people.

(As far as Z having “release”, that doesn’t ever happen for him in his entire (200+ year) life – no matter how many times he was with a woman – untill the first time he has sex with Bella.)

J R may have written a hell of a book in Lover Awakened ….. and Lord did she ever…. but Kati your commentary is wonderful!

It was not a book I wanted to read, not a theme or a series that I thought I would like, but Zsadist was so beautifully drawn, so in need of and deserving of a HEA that it sucked me right in.

The Romance world is filled with all kinds of great heroes, but Z will always be the one I think of when I think of tortured and virgin and damn, isn’t he just worthy of a HEA!

Yes, I totally agree with JR Ward. Zsadist is such an amazing character. I was balling my eyes out when he handed Bella the “I love you” note. And I cried like a baby when he texted Bella in “Father Mine”. Who could not love this guy?

And Im curious if any of you ladies have guys like him in your life.

I swear I actually do. But real life Zsadists are definitely tough ones to handle. I handle mine with extreme kid gloves. I love him crazy, but sometimes when their past is thrown on you, it’s so unbelievably painful. Abuse really changes people. And loving someone who was a Navy Seal, 6′ 4″ and 240 of lean muscle can be sometimes scary. I watch him work out sometimes and think about Zsadist in the gym for the first time when he sees Bella. All freaked out. But my Zsadist kisses me all sweaty. It’s so freakin’ crazy…

I agree with everything yall said. Z’s one of my favorite hero’s of all. Also Sherrilyn Kenyon’s hero Wren was a virgin, and I really love him too.

Laura – Good question, and one we’ll be exploring all week. But IMO, yes, there is such a thing. Have you read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie is absolutely a virgin hero. We’ll say, he wonders at first about the mechanics of it. But he gets the hang of it pretty darn well! LOL!

But all week we’ll be looking at heroes who have not had sex (that’s not to say that they ALL don’t have sexual experience), but most of them are at the very least, technically virgins. I just…broke the rules right off the bat with Z, who technically isn’t a virgin.
