Some Things Should Just be Labeled a Criminal Act

stopwhining.jpgMarisa:  You know me – I’m watching all the new TV premieres this month.  And it’s come to my attention that there are entirely too many whiny heroines this season. Not only that, they tend to whine every where from the privacy of their bedrooms to the very public arenas of  business meetings.  From Meredith in Grey’s Anatomy to Kitty in Brothers and Sisters, they just can’t seem to help themselves.  If I were reading a romance book with a whinny heroine it would be a definite DNF (did not finish) for me.

Maria:  Hallelujah! Amen! Can I get a witness?  Nothing turns me off faster than a whine.  Oh yeah.  Miss Kitty on Brothers and Sisters was impossible.  Can you imagine Annique Villiers from The Spymaster’s Lady whining across Europe – she’d never would have escaped enemy lines.

Marisa: That’s the truth. I’m thinking we all whine occasionally…

Maria:  Not me.

Marisa:  OK, I’m thinking we all whine occasionally, except for Maria, but we try to keep it private. Don’t we? Public whining, and whining for any extended period of time is a crime. Period.

Maria:  Yes, public whining is a big NO in my book. What about you?  Whining public or private or not at all?

It’s okay to have a little whining or a pity party, but best to keep it brief…and private. People who whine constantly get on my last nerve!

I love Grey’s Anatomy, but most of the time I just want to jump through the TV and slap Meredith in the face! Shut up already!–thank God, Christina finally told her to! Meredith has a sexy doctor who loves her, and she keeps trying to find problems with that. Enough! There are plenty of women who’d take McDreamy in a minute.

Gannon I’m with you. Ocassionaly I have to whine – but I only do it with my best friends and in private after a cocktail or two.

I agree with you Meredith needs to STOP already. But did you get a look at the new Doc that Christina may hook up with. He is all that and more. I don’t think I’d be whining if he happened to pull an iceicle out of my stomach and then kissed me.

I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy. I know I’m probably the only one in the room who doesn’t. Here’s why. I saw a couple of episodes and the WHINING was waaaayyy toooooo much for me. Gannon – I not only wanted to jump through the TV I was ready to do some serious bitch slapping once I got to the other side of the screen.

Well, I do hate whining. But with Meredith, I think that’s part of her personality, you know? She’s got all this terrible stuff that’s happened in her life. And she’s not a very good person, and she’s completely self-absorbed, and yet, we still pull for her.

I’ll never forget when she slept with George. I was FURIOUS with her. I mean, seriously furious. I fumed for DAYS. You just don’t pick on the weaker kid. Ever. And yet, watching her try desperately to get back into George’s good graces and finally accept that he had to forgive her and that she couldn’t force it, was very sweet and very human.

I dunno. I find myself able to forgive Meredith a lot.

Now, I haven’t seen B&S yet. It’s on my TiVO, and I meant to watch it last night, but then I got sucked into a book and ended up not watching. So I can’t comment on Kitty. And I do agree, Kitty is a whiner too. But hey, most of that family is totally all about themselves. And yet, I’d marry into the Walker family in a second. 😀

I have to say that I cannot stand to read about or watch a whiny heroine. I get enough of that from family members. LOL And yes, I whine, too, sometimes, but I like to keep it brief and private.

    Maria, you’re not the only one! I don’t watch Grey’s either. 😉

Andrea – you are my long lost sister!

MK – Brothers and Sisters sucks you in I think because there are so many freaking charachters and they all have soooo much DRAMA going on. I mean there’s drama if they go to the store and buy a bottle of milk. Yikes! At least with a book, you know there’s an end in site… You can count the pages until the charachter is going to come around right. With a TV show, it’s indefinite based on ratings… I think I might have to go on strike and not watch anymore TV. Seriously. Oh, except when LOST comes back, then I’ll give it a few episodes to see if it’s worth the watch.

Personally, I don’t like to listen to too much whining. If it’s a girlfriend, I’ll give her some time to get it off her chest and commiserate with her, just don’t let it last for days!!!!!!!!!!

Most of you wonderfully smart women probably already realize that I’m a bit of whiner. Yep, I am. Sorry, but it’s true. I think I have gotten better with age, but it used to be pretty bad. I have a confession to make . . . my junior year in high school I was voted the 2nd most whinest person in our class. And yes, I did whine over the fact that someone beat me 🙂 Still don’t like that girl very much!

Buffie – I would have NEVER guessed you were a whiner. And as for that girl that beat you – I don’t like her either!

    Maria – yeah, sure you wouldn’t 😉

Meredith’s whining drives me crazy yet, like Kati, I seem to be able to forgive her time after time. I don’t have much patience for whiners in real life, especially if they’re whining about silly, inconsequential things. I find myself wanting to shake them and tell them to “get over it!”. I don’t, of course, but oh, do I want to. On the very rare occasions that I whine I do it only in the presence of my dogs. They understand and give me all the love and support I could ask for. 🙂

Buffie, you don’t come across as a whiner at all!

Whining at work will get you fired. Nobody likes a whiner. Even whining in private to your friends should be kept to a minimum, imho.
