I just opened the new Hammacher Schlemmer (try saying that fast 5 times)
catalog at my dentist office and thought, whoa, wait a minute here… Did they start inventing stuff while I was sleeping? Well apparently they did. And even though these gadgets are not necessary to my survival I’m thinking if I hit the jack pot and won the lottery, I would so buy these things.
Take for example the personal movie theater that hooks up to your iPod, which was developed using technology by the U.S. Military and looks like a cool pair of 80’s sunglasses. I could watch the latest episode of Lost or finally start watching the first season of Buffie while I was waiting on line at the supermarket.
Oh, and speaking of the supermarket, now I never have to forget a thing- because of course I’m going to purchase the voice recognition grocery list organizer. While I’m there I’m going to pick up the magnetic soap holder that keeps the soap dangling in the air so I never have to bother with soap scum again! Whew! That’s a relief.
Yes, they have been inventing things while I’ve been sleeping. I woke up to find myself living next door to George Jetson and his dog Elroy.
So, what new gadgets would you buy if you hit the jack pot?

When it comes to gadgets – I am waiting for them to have the ‘finder’. That would be a device that finds all the things I misplace. My eye glasses, my car keys, my phone, my check book, my purse… etc. Each time I find my self looking for something, I wish there was a button surgically attached to my hand that I could press and it would locate my stuff.

Maria I’m with you on that one. I would love a device that beeped every time I put something down to make sure I took note of where it is.

I’m not much of a gadget person. I have too many things to keep with without carrying around more stuff

I’m not really a gadget person either. When I lived in the city I used love to browse stores like Brookstone and Sharper Image just to see what new gadgets the creative minds had come up with. I never bought any but I did like to look.

However, put me in a kitchen store with an unlimited amount of money and watch me BUY, BUY, BUY!

I love Hammacher Schlemmer. Their catalog is filled with “what to buy for the person who has everything.” Several years ago, I had a dentist who had these “goggles” that you could watch a movie while you had your lengthy procedure–they looked kind of like the ones in the picture. Pretty cool and much better than staring at the ceiling!

PJ–I’m totally with you on this one. I’m not much of a gadget person, either, unless you’re talking kitchen gadgets. In that case, I’m pretty much uncontrollable.

heidenkind, you and Maria would get along perfectly, she can’t stop by a kitchen store without going in and oogoling the merchandise. I can’t cook worth anything, but Maria and my older sister and mom have every kitchen gadget known to man kind.

PJ and Heidenkind – I am so with you! I absolutely love kitchen gadgets. I’ve got all sorts of pots, timers, thermometers, special pot holders, knives, whirling things, swooshing things, mixing things… it is so what I am into.
