In this follow up to Dead Girls are Easy, goth girl Nicki Styx is back and she still sees dead people. This time, it’s her birth mother who leads her down a path toward discovery of her past and how she developed her unusual talents.

In A Match Made In Hell, the sequel to Dead Girls are Easy — Nicki is adjusting to her new unearthly talents and her relationship with the handsome ER doctor Joe when the devil ( masquerading as a Billy Idol look-a-like) arrives. He doesn’t look like any devil I’ve ever seen. He’s tempting in that sexy, blond, blue-eyed, hunky way. What’s a fashion plate, goth girl to do? To make matters even more unsettling, she learns that her doctor boyfriend’s ex-wife is her long lost identical twin sister, that she didn’t even know she had. Uh, say what?

Terri Garey’s latest release is a fun romp through the ‘other world’ while exploring relationships in this world. Nicki has to come to grips with her long lost twin Kelly, who is her total opposite and they must learn to work together if they’re going to send the Devil straight back to hell. Ms. Garey writes a tough heroine, who has to face the dead and the living, and does it with enough bravado that you embrace this character. The dialog is snappy and the author writes several clever scenes between Nicki and her sister that give the reader immediate insight to each character without a lot of preamble or back story. If you have a sibling, you can immediately identify with their relationship.

The author also puts a nice spin on the twin thing. Being an identical twin, I totally related to the fact that they were opposites. It’s true what Patty Duke said, they look alike, they walk alike, they sound alike, but that’s where it ends. Nicki and her sister are ying/yang, and I found that to be true of myself and most twins I meet. So I appreciated Ms. Garey’s take. The one draw back for me was Nicki dating her twin’s ex. That was a strange from my perspective. Getting past that, I enjoyed their interplay and their desires to do things each in their own way.

If you like clever dialog and in your face heroines who always try to do the right thing, then this book is for you.
