It’s been seven years since Maia Frasier willingly performed the spell that stripped her of her magic, and with it her life as part of the elite Gineal Troubleshooter squad. For seven years she’s been living a “human” life in the Twin Cities. In that time Maia has been watching from the outside as her younger sister Ryne’s star rises among the Troubleshooters. The only thing that keeps the pain and jealousy away is her deep love for her sister and the knowledge that is was for her sake – her life – Maia voluntarily gave it all up. Besides, even Maia knows that she had fallen to the dark forces, making her a danger to the Gineal and humans she had been charged to protect; she knows it was her own willingness that allowed Seth’s whispering darkness to seduce her so thoroughly.
Now, miserable in her nine-to-five job and barely adjusted to her suburban life, she tries to keep the memories of her former magical life at bay. All her efforts go to hell when, coming home from work one day, she discovers Creed Blackwood in her living room. Creed, the legendary Rover – elite of the elite Troubleshooters – is wounded and seeking asylum with Maia. Never mind that she’s an outcast among the Gineal with no powers to protect or heal him. Creed insists on staying with her and asks her to heal him. Intrigued by his mission – not to mention the instant, intense attraction she feels to him, Maia allows him to stay. But when he confides that he’s searching a demon who is targeting her sister Ryne, Maia gives him no choice but to stay – and include her in the hunt.
Creed Blackwood is shaken. His mind and magic have become erratic of late. Then there’s Maia: so strong, so beautiful, he could lose what little of his mind he still has. And he needs every bit of it to find the demon whose thoughts he can read. Creed knows he’s close to falling into darkness the way Maia did. It might not be long before he succumbs and joins the wrong side in the Battle of Twilight’s Time…
In Twilight’s Shadow is the second book in Patti O’Shea’s Light Warriors series. Reading the first book might enhance the experience of reading this second installment by clarifying and familiarizing the reader with certain terms and characters. But it’s also so fascinating to be caught unawares by a world already so completely formed and alive. The paranormal beings and elements of magic are made even more compelling because O’Shea has steeped them all in earthly reality. Aura, energy, psychic vampires and soul mates – they are all tangible powers in this book. As is the sexual tension between Creed and Maia! From page one, O’Shea suspends your disbelief and threatens never to give it back.

You know I first introduced to Patti O’Shea with her book Ravyn’s Flight – I really loved that book and recommend to readers all the time. Patti has a way of making you get very involved with her characters and Mayra you’re right, she does have a way of making her ‘other worldly’ elements very believable. I haven’t read this series yet, buy I’m going to have to get it and soon.
Thanks for the review Mayra!

Great review Mayra! There are so many paranormal books out there that a girl doesn’t know where to begin. I have just begun getting my big toe wet in the pond of paranormal. Sounds like I need to add O’Shea to my list of books to get.

Sounds like a good book. Creed sounds like a tortured hero, and I just love tortured heroes.
