Musings

helmsk_photo_a.JPGCAREN:

The Banditas will swarm the RNTV blog in pairs for the next two weeks. We are thrilled to be here! Today, Avon historical author Anna Campbell and 2006 Golden Heart finalist Caren Crane are here to kick things off.

Caren, I’m sorry to say, is given to limericks and other forms of very bad poetry. Given their joint dysfunction, they have decided to write this post – and, indeed, to reply to each comment – in haiku.

(Definition of haiku: A Japanese poem composed of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Haiku often reflect on some aspect of nature.)

Mr. Whedon was honored at a 2006 Equality Now event, an organization that fights for international human rights.  Founded by Jessica Neuwirth who was inspired by Lee Stearns, Joss Whedon’s mother. I was compelled to share it with you when Marisa pointed it out to me tonight after we had an intense conversation about human rights and equality.

Joss mentions in his speech that he is constantly asked by reporters, “Why do you write strong women characters?”

His response, “I credit my mother.”

“I credit my father and stepfather, they

The holidays are over.  The primaries are in full swing.  And the writers are still on strike. Oh my, what’s a girl to do?

I say, whatever resolutions you’ve made in this new year – get busy. If you’re been planning to write a book, then start.  If you’ve decided this was the year to loose 1000 pounds, I’d say you should put down the chocolate cake right now.  And if you’re ambivalent about who to vote for, get informed, we’re voting for the leader of the free world,  be a part of it.

I’m a firm believer that it’s never too late.  I’ve lived my life on that premise, so if there is something you’ve been itching to do – go for it.

What’s been filed away in the
