This weekend at RNTV -we dealt with technical issues, taping a new segment, and finally a moment to go out and see the sky.

We started off the weekend by discovering good news and bad. We have many new visitors to our site, more than we planned for, so we need to switch servers to a dedicated server for RNTV. I know, I know, we just changed servers – well, at least we’ve had the practice as we go through the entire process again. If you should experience any technical difficulties with our site over the next week, bear with us – we’ll be back to normal soon.

On Saturday, Marisa and I taped a new segment featuring Sarah from www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com. We had planned to tape both Sarah and Candy who are the Smart Bitches, but unfortunately, we ran into technical difficulties we couldn’t overcome. Candy doesn’t live in the New York metropolitan area – and we were going to film a webcast of both she and Sarah talking about romance books – but a pesky firewall prevented us from getting Candy on tape. However, we did get Sarah to sit and talk on camera and she had some great things to say. She talked about trends in romance and her views on series. We’ll begin airing these new segments next week.

After all these tech issues, I thought it was time to go out and see the sky. Marisa and I took a drive upstate New York to visit our parents. The leaves are changing and the weather is fabulous. My mother thought it would be a good idea to go pumpkin picking. Now, for those of you who don’t know me, my idea of seeing the countryside is not the up close and personal kind. I’m not one for trudging through a pumpkin patch, getting muddy and dealing with nature in such an intimate manner. After all you can purchase all the produce you need in a grocery store. Am I right?

So, instead we took a beautiful drive to Black Horse Farms where the pumpkins had already been picked for us – and I selected a couple and made my purchase –much neater.

Wow, Maria, sounds like you had a full weekend. Thanks for posting the pictures — love the fall leaves! As for my weekend, it was pretty jammed packed. Saturday I spent 13 hours helping my mother-in-law cater a wedding reception for 175 guest. Sunday was spent at church and then working on my fourth graders pumpkin project, which was turning a pumpkin into a famous person. He picked Lou Gehrig. I’ll have to post a picture of our pumpkin on the message board. Needless to say, I’m so glad it’s Monday!

Great pictures! Buffie, please do post the pumpkin picture!

Yesterday was one of those picture perfect fall days here with the deep blue sky, lots of sunshine and that crisp smell of autumn in the air. I packed Cassy and camera in the car and around 11am we took off up the mountain. Our first stop was Whitewater Falls. We had a great time walking the trails and enjoying the beautiful vistas. The leaves at that altitude are just beginning to turn so it was still mostly green but beautiful none the less. From there we continued on up the mountain to Cashiers, NC where the colors were further along. We stopped at my favorite BBQ place to pick up lunch to go then continued on up to Highlands (altitude 4,118 ft.) where the colors were at peak and breathtakingly beautiful. We stopped at all the scenic overlooks and walked around town where we were stopped every few feet (or so it seemed) so people could say hello to Cassy. She was in doggy paradise. Around 3pm we started back down the mountain via a different route, stopping at more scenic overlooks along the way. I picked up some yummy golden delicious apples from one of the orchard stands on the route. I do love this time of year!

PJ — I love the Highlands area! I lived in Franklin for a year and truly enjoyed it there.
